Is real estate sales the fall back job?
I am writing this because I ran into an old friend the other day who mentioned through conversation that he was "looking at getting into real estate." That was the 2nd such conversation I have had in the last month so it got me to thinking. Is real estate sales the fall back job of choice for people who don't know what to do next or those that are looking at making so extra money or worse those that are looking to get rich quick!
It troublesome to me because of how easy it is for someone to get into real estate sales. You don't see people saying I want to get into law in their mid 30's or 40's, I am sure it happens but it is a far less occurrence than those that say I am looking to get into real estate. You don't see people saying I want to get into medicine at 35 years old. The reason is that those professions require years of schooling/training because of the nature of the profession.
With real estate you pass 3 classes take a state test and poof you are a licsensed real estate salesperson! Its no wonder the real estate profession is viewed so low by the genral public, as a profession real estate sales people are a few notches above used car salesman in eyes of the public and woth good reason. You can't expect someone who got their licsence in 45 days to treat it as a profession when the got a real estate licsence in less time than it took them to graduate from high school!
I have a lot of thoughts on this subject and I could go on all day but for the sake of those reading this I will end here and finish this with a part 2 article, but I will leave you with this question. If you're Doctor or Lawyer said to you that I completed 3 classes and took a test a month ago would you go to him or her for their services? To be continued...
Thats a great question!
